Frequently Asked Questions

  • How many treatments will I need?

The Lymphatic System is different for different people.  There may be a different number of vessels and lymph nodes.  The number of sessions will depend on your health condition and health history.

As your first appointment we will discuss with you your treatment, your health condition and history and recommend how many treatments you will need along with the frequency of treatments.

  • How do I know if I'm at risk of Lymphoedema?

If you have had or are about to have cancer surgery or treatment and have had lymph nodes removed/will be removed, then you are at risk of lymphodoema.  Early diagnosis is important, so it is good to arrange an appointment with your practitioner as soon as possible.

  • What can I expect from a Lymphatic Drainage treatment?

Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) is a non-envasive procedure.  Your practitioner will perform precise and rhymthic pumping techniques to move the skin in the flow of the lymphatic system.  This will not hurt - you may feel some tingling or a drawing sensation under the skin.

  • What can I expect after MLD treatment?

It may take more than one session before you start to feel the benefits of MLD.  Depending on your condition you should feel less swelling, more joint movement, increased energy and decreased pain.  Sometimes you feel more tired or irritable for the first 24-48hrs after a treatment.
